Top Gear PH Names Winners Of First-Ever ‘Stig Awards’

Mazda MX-5 earns 2015 ‘Car of the Year’ recognition.

Motoring magazine Top Gear Philippines announced on November 26 the winner of their first-ever Stig Awards, during a by-invitation-only culminating event held in Taguig City.

The Stig Awards is named after The Stig, an anonymous, helmeted character from the magazine’s international TV show produced in the United Kingdom.

The 2015 Mazda MX-5, a multi-awarded two-seater sports car, bagged the Stig Awards Car of the Year recognition.

“Since 2012, we’ve been naming our very own Car of the Year,” the magazine says on its website. “The process is simple: Our editors and writers name their top five cars, and we tally the scores. The Toyota 86was the very first recipient of the award. In 2013, the Mazda 6 earned the honor, and then the Mazda 3 won the title last year.”

Top Gear Philippines also gave the readers’ favorite award to the automobile with the most votes on its website.

The magazine says it will announce the full list of winners in its December 2015-January 2016 issue. —eCompareMo.com
