As is expected from Apple, the iPhone 8 and X are solid smartphones that have been met with positive responses from both consumers and the press. While the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus may just be faster and more powerful versions of the previous generation iPhones, the bezel-free iPhone X comes with new features and will only be sold in limited quantities.
In the United States, when the new iPhones were unveiled, the prices were set at $699 (P35,680) and $849 (P43,337) for the 64GB and 256GB variants respectively. Meanwhile, the iPhone 8 Plus 64GB was priced at $799 (P40,808) and the 256GB at $949 (P48,432).
A few days ago, an online gadget shop released its pre-order prices for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, with the dreaded exorbitant price tags. For the iPhone 8 preorders, Widget City is billing the following rates:
iPhone 8 64GB – P50,000
iPhone 8 256GB – P60,000
iPhone 8 Plus 64GB – P60,000
iPhone 8 Plus 256GB – P70,000
Quite a markup, right? Filipinos who can’t wait to get their hands on these babies can get them at lower prices from the gray market. Or you could just wait till the end of the year for the official launch. Or, you could not buy a new iPhone at all, after all, there are a lot of other things you could buy instead.
