How do I get a visa to visit the Philippines? This is a rare question as the Philippines has a reputation for being hospitable and open to foreign tourists and expatriates.

Countries Required To Get Visa To Enter The Philippines

As part of this hospitability, visa-free entry is offered to many people around the world so that they may experience just how much more fun it is in the Philippines.  To date, there are 157 countries listed by the Department of Foreign Affairs whose citizens can travel visa-free to our country.

While visa-free entry is the norm, there are a few exceptions.  This post lists 34 countries whose citizens need a visa to enter the Philippines.

If you are a citizen of one of these 34 countries, don’t despair, we’re also going to extend some Filipino helpfulness and guide you through the visa application process.

Countries without a Philippine Consulate

For citizens who belong to a country that is not  visa-free, they must apply for a visa in person at the Philippine consulate or embassy.

For those who do not have a Philippine consulate in their country, they will need to inquire about applying for a visa at the nearest consulate. The citizens of the 21 countries in the table below are not visa-free to the Philippines and their country does not have a Philippine consulate within its borders.

Countries with A Philippine Consulate

Below is some general information on how to apply for a Philippine visa at various consulates.

1. Bangladesh

The traveler must apply and submit documents and requirements to the Philippine Embassy / Consulate in Dhaka.

A single Entry valid for three (3) months costs Tk 3,400. Multiple Entry valid for six (6) months costs Tk 6,800 and Tk 10,200 for one (1) year.

2. Iran

The traveler must apply and submit documents and requirements at the Philippine Embassy / Consulate in Tehran.

The visa fee is USD 50 or its equivalent in Rials.

3. Egypt

The traveler must apply and submit documents and requirements at the Philippine Embassy / Consulate in Cairo, Egypt.

Visa requirements include proof of financial capability to travel, latest bank statement with an account containing at least USD 3,000 or its equivalent, and a certificate of employment.

4. People’s Republic of China

The traveler must apply and submit documents and requirements at the Philippine Embassy / Consulate in Beijing, China.

Travelers with a visa issued by Australia, Canada, Japan, a Schengen country or the U.S. may enter through Manila without a visa as long as their stay will not be exceeding 7 days and they hold a valid return ticket to the country of origin or to the next country of destination.

A 30-day landed visa is available for members of tour groups organized and accredited by the Department of Tourism, businessmen endorsed by local and foreign government agencies, athletes, as well as delegates to conventions and exhibitions. Applications should be filed 10 days before arrival with a visa fee of USD 25.

5. India

The traveler must apply for a visa at the Philippine Embassy / Consulate in New Delhi, India.

Single entry visa valid for three months costs Rs 2,840 while multiple entry visas for six months cost Rs 5,680.

Citizens may enter visa-free at any port of entry for up to fourteen days, provided they have a valid US, Japanese, Australian, Canadian, Schengen, United Kingdom, or Singaporean multiple-entry visa and a ticket to their next destination.

6. Iraq

The traveler must apply and submit documents and requirements at the Philippine Embassy / Consulate in Baghdad, Iraq.

Visa fee is USD 40.

7. Jordan

The traveler must apply and submit documents and requirements at the Philippine Embassy / Consulate in Amman, Kingdom of Jordan.

Single-entry visa fee is JOD 30 (USD 40). Multiple-entry visa valid for 6 months costs JOD 45 (USD 60), while a multiple-entry visa valid for 1 year costs JOD 67 (USD 90).

8. Lebanon

The traveler must apply and submit documents and requirements at the Philippine Embassy / Consulate in Beirut, Lebanon.

Aside from the standard visa requirements, the applicant must submit a signed certification not to recruit Filipino workers to Lebanon.

Visa application fee for single entry fee is USD 40.

9. Libya

The traveler must apply and submit documents and requirements at the Philippine Embassy / Consulate in Tripoli, Libya.

Visa fee for single entrée is LYD 56. Visa processing time is two weeks.

10. Nigeria

The traveler must apply and submit documents and requirements at the Philippine Embassy / Consulate in Abuja, Nigeria.

Visa application fee is NGN 15,500.

11. Pakistan

The traveler must apply and submit documents and requirements at the Philippine Embassy / Consulate in Islamabad, Pakistan.

A single entry visa valid for three months is Rs. 4,800.

12. Syria

The traveler must apply and submit documents and requirements at the Philippine Embassy / Consulate in in Damascus, Syria.

13. Timor-Leste

The traveler must apply and submit documents and requirements at the Philippine Embassy / Consulate in in Dili, Timor-Leste.

Visa processing fee is USD 40. Processing time is approximately two working days upon submission of requirements.

Important Reminder For Visa-Applicants

The Bureau of Immigration of the Philippines only allows entry of foreign nationals holding machine-readable passports into Philippine ports – both air and sea.
